What is Collagen Induction Therapy?
Collagen Induction Therapy or Dermal Needling as it is sometimes also known is a treatment which results in a firmer, thicker Dermal area (the mattress beneath the epidermis which supports the skin). There is both the electronic version of the treatment where the device is programmed to suit the depth and condition of the skin, or there is a manual roller version of the treatment. The latter manual treatment is a great introduction to this type of advanced dermal skin regime and gives you a chance to experience a “gentler” version of this treatment.
As the name Dermal Needling implies; tiny sterile needles are used to impact the layers beneath the skin. In effect we are wounding the skin to create brand new collagen fibres. In the same way as the skin heals itself when you damage the surface with an abrasion; with the Dermal Needling method the fine needles create a tiny wound in the skin. This causes the skin to bring an increase of blood circulation to the area and stimulates the fibroblasts deep in the skin to lay down new collagen which is the support network beneath the skin.
This treatment often leaves you with a flushed look, similar to that after heavy exercise or mild sunburn; so if you are the type of person who would normally wear makeup to work, you may wish to schedule this treatment for after you finish for the day. Typically by the next day, your skin would have calmed and a light mineral powder can be worn. These Collagen Induction Treatments can be performed once a month for a few months to achieve great results in creating a thicker firmer dermis (mattress) and it also assists with reducing scarring, pigmentation and red veins.
